The large island of Crete is among the top 10 international trend-setting destinations for 2023 in terms of adventure, nature and wellness tourism, according to the Spanish magazine Hosteltur.
The periodical cites the findings in a recent survey by Mabrian Technologies, a travel intelligence services provider.
The latter analyzed the evolution of holiday-makers’ tourist interests and data regarding tourist destinations, based on millions of spontaneous interactions of travelers using the TripAdvisor platform.
Crete ranks in second place, behind the iconic Indonesia island of Bali, Indonesia and above Algarve, Portugal.
The Greek island, the fifth biggest in the Mediterranean, exceeded all tourism-related records in 2022, despite the absence of Russian visitors.
