Direct orders of 3 million euros resulted from the approximately 1,000 business meetings between Greek companies and foreign buyers, carried out by the 24 clothing-textile enterprises of Central Macedonia, in the context of their participation in three exhibitions, in Munich, Madrid, and Athens, with the active support of the Region and the Regional Development Fund.
According to an announcement by the Association of Textile and Ready-Made Clothing Enterprises of Greece (SEPEE), the products of northern Greek enterprises were presented at two of the largest international fashion trade exhibitions, “Munich Fabric Start” in January and “MOMAD” in Madrid in February, as and at the biggest fashion exhibition in Greece, the “Athens Fashion Trade Show”.
In the Region of Central Macedonia there are approximately 1,000 clothing and textile companies (44% of the country), which employ 12,000 workers (48% of the country) and export 1.1 billion euros (70% of the total of the sector in the country) . “It was the fifth year in a row that the Region of Central Macedonia, in collaboration with SEPEE, participated in the two foreign exhibitions and the third year in the exhibition in Athens, which mainly concerns the domestic market” the announcement emphasizes.
“The entrepreneurs of the sector, with constantly improving financial results and dynamic outgoing steps, prove the enormous potential of the clothing-textile industry, to re-establish a leading role in the recovery of the local economy. In a difficult economic environment, the Region of Central Macedonia, taking advantage of the comparative advantages of Greece, all the means and financial tools at its disposal, continues to be an agent of stability and efficiency” points out the Deputy Regional Governor for Development and Environment, Kostas Jutikas.
