
Greek citizenship was awarded to Professor Kevin Featherstone in a special ceremony held at Maximos Mansion. The professor took the oath of Greek citizenship in the presence of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, before the Sec.Gen. forCitizenship, Athanasios Balerbas.
Who is Kevin Featherstone
Mr. Featherstone is professor of Modern Greek Studies, holder of the “Eleftherios Venizelos” chair, and professor of European Politics at the London School of Economics. He is also the director of the Hellenic Observatory, which is internationally recognized as one of the leading research centers for modern Greece and Cyprus. The Hellenic Observatory is part of the LSE’s European Institute.
Kevin Featherstone’s academic research focuses on the European Union and contemporary Greece, in the fields of Comparative Politics, Public Policy and Political Economy.
It is noted that he was the first member of the National Research and Technology Council in Greece, from 2010 to 2013, although he was not Greek.
In 2013 he was honored with the award of “Commander of the Order of the Phoenix” by the President of the Hellenic Republic and in 2021 with the award of “Grand Commander of the Order of the Phoenix” of the Hellenic Republic.
