
The annual inflation rate in Greece fell to 6.5 percent in February 2023, down from 7.3 percent in January 2023, a flash estimate by Eurostat stated on Thursday.
The EU executive’s statistics service said the annual inflation rate in the Eurozone was expected to ease slightly, to 8.5 percent in February 2023, from 8.6 percent the previous month, reflecting prices increases in food, alcohol and tobacco (15 and 14.1 percent, respectively), followed by energy (13.7 percent from 18.9 percent in January 2023) and non-energy industrial goods (6.8 percent from 6.7 percent in January 2023). The consumer price index in the services sector rose 4.8 percent last month, from 4.4 percent in January 2023.
Latvia (20.1 percent), Estonia (17.8 percent) and Lithuania (17.2 percent) posted the highest inflation rates, while Luxembourg (4.8 percent), Belgium (5.5 percent), Spain (6.1 percent) and Greece (6.5 percent) recorded the lowest rates.
