The unemployment rate in Greece fell to 10.8 percent of the active workforce in January 2023, down from 12.4 percent in December 2022 and 13.7 percent in the corresponding month of 2022, Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT) announced on Thursday.
Specifically, the number of unemployed people reached nearly 502,000, down by 134,764 (21.6 percent) compared with January 2022.
The figure was down by 87,686 (14.9 percent) compared with December 2022.
The unemployment rate among women fell to 13.9 percent, down from 18.3 percent in January 2022.
The unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group remained high, at 28.1 percent in January 2023, but significantly improved from 37 percent in January 2022.
The number of employed in Greece in January 2023 reached 4,145,529, up 2.9 percent from January 2022, but down by 0.6 percent from the previous month, December 2022.
