January was strong for both accommodation and food service businesses, which is reflected in Hellenic Statistical Authority-ELSTAT’s data.
For the enterprises in Accommodation Activities (division 55 of NACE Rev.2 classification), obliged to double-entry bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in January 2023 amounted to 82,881,115 euro, recording an increase of 18.0% in comparison with January 2022, when the respective turnover was 70,236,576 euro.
For the enterprises in Food and Beverage Service Activities (division 56 of NACE Rev.2 classification), obliged to double-entry bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in January 2023 amounted to 150,035,185 euro, recording an increase of 35.7% in comparison with January 2022, when the respective turnover was 110,589,611 euro.
In total, for the enterprises in Accommodation and Food and Beverage Service Activities (divisions 55 and 56 of NACE Rev. 2 classification), obliged to double-entry bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in January 2023 amounted to 232,916,299 euro, recording an increase of 28.8% in comparison with January 2022, when the respective turnover was 180,826,187 euro.
For the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover of the year 2022 greater than 1.0% (Table 1), the biggest increase in the turnover of January 2023 compared with January 2022 was recorded in the Region Attiki (45.5%) and the smallest increase (5.8%) was recorded in the Regional Unit Lassithi, while a decrease (23.8%) was recorded in the Regional Unit Mykonos
