Incumbent Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke to Reuters this week ahead of May 21 general election in Greece, in what the international news service warned may generate an inconclusive result due to the election law in force.

In his Reuters interview, the center-right Mitsotakis emphasized that the country has moved forward after overcoming debt crisis, and four years after he succeeded radical left SYRIZA in power.

“I have learned to be bold on economic reform,” was his reply when queried over what he’s learned since assuming the country’s reins in July 2019.

With his New Democracy (ND) party leading the polls heading into Sunday’s election, but with practically all results showing that the first-past-the-post party will not achieve a majority of MPs in Parliament, Mitsotakis reminded that Greek growth tops euro peers, although high inflation rates have eaten away at households disposable incomes.
