The New Democracy parliamentarian of Ioannina, Konstantinos Tasoulas, was re-elected as president of the House by the Hellenic Parliament, resulting from the elections of May 21, 2023.
The parliamentarians of ND, SYRIZA-PS, PASOK-Movement of Change and Hellenic Solution voted in favor of Mr. Tasoulas, while the parliamentarians of KKE declared “present”.
After a roll call and out of 296 MPs voting, 270 MPs voted “yes” while 26 MPs declared themselves “present”.
Who didn’t vote?
SYRIZA MPs Sia Anagnostopoulos and Zeibek Hussein were absent, while A. Samaras (ND) and Othon Iliopoulos (SYRIZA) did not vote as they did not have time to take the oath yesterday due to their absence abroad.
The president of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras, the MP of SYRIZA Olga Gerovasilis, the MP of SYRIZA Sokratis Vardakis and the MP of PASOK Burhan Baran were also absent, but had sent a letter vote in favor of Mr. Tassoulas.
Mr. Tasoulas was elected for the first time as president of the Parliament on July 18, 2019, with the largest post-political majority (283 yes, 15 “present”).
