New Democracy (ND) party president, and Greece’s prime minister up until last week, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on Tuesday congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his re-election as the president of Turkey, following the second round of elections in that country on Sunday.
Taking to his official Twitter account, Mitsotakis said he spoke by phone with the long-serving Turkish leader and “…I congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election as the President of the Republic of Türkiye and extended my best wishes for progress and prosperity to the Turkish people.”
Mitsotakis stepped down as premier ahead of a June 25 general election in Greece, with a caretaker government serving until a new government is formed.
