Employers in Greece were gauged as very optimistic over the employment outlook for the third quarter of 2023 in the country, with 35 percent of respondents saying they expect an increase in hirings. Conversely, 47 percent said they expect no change, whereas 15 percent expect declining employment, a survey by ManpowerGroup announced on Tuesday.
The survey, conducted on a sample of 510 employers, found that employment prospects will rise by 8 percent in the third quarter of 2023, compared to the second quarter, and by 17 percent compared with the same trimester of 2022.
Eight out of nine business sectors expect higher employment in the coming quarter, with the most prominent being the transport and logistics sector (53 percent), followed by telecoms (45 percent).
The greater Athens-Piraeus region was the most competitive in the country, with an 8-percent increase on a quarterly basis, and a 21-percent hike compared with the third quarter of 2022.
