Retail clothing and textile sales grew by 23.6 percent in the domestic market, while exports and imports fell by 7.3 percent and 3.6 percent, respectively, in the first four months of 2023, a market analysis announced in a report on Tuesday.
Specifically, retail sales of clothing in the local market reached 848 million euros in the January-April 2023 period, up from 686 million in the corresponding period last year.
Exports of clothing and textiles fell to 735 million euros, down from 793 million in the same period, with exports of clothing down by 11 percent; textiles down by 7.1 percent and cotton down by 2.2 percent.
Imports of clothing and textiles dropped to 1.134 billion euros in the same period, down from 1.177 billion euros in the corresponding period last year.
Textile imports fell by 9.9 percent the first four months of 2023.
