The fiery nightmare continues in the country as the fire rages in Rhodes for the 8th day while active fronts exist in Karystos and Corfu.
In fact, at dawn, a message was sent by 112 to the residents of the Platanistos Karystos area to evacuate the settlement and head to Karystos.
The ground forces of the fire brigade fought throughout the night to limit the fronts in Rhodes, Karystos and Corfu so that at the first light of day they could start assisting the operations and the aerial means and try to control the fires.
The firefighting forces in Corfu are fighting the flare-ups, the main ones of which are located in the north-east of the island in the areas of Viglatouri, Perithia and Lauki, without so far threatening residential areas.
The ground forces have to face active fronts in Gennadi and the village of Vati as well as around the villages of Malonas and Massari.
In Gennadi and Vati, the fronts burn in two ravines that make it difficult for ground forces as there is no access.
Although there have been flare-ups, the fire in Dervenaki, Achaia, is being dealt with so far.
Fortunately, the fire brigade managed to contain the fires that broke out yesterday afternoon in Agia Triada, Thebes, and in Kontodespoti, Psachno, Evia.
08:05 Still searching for the missing shepherd
The thriller continues with a 41-year-old shepherd who is missing according to what his brother said.

07:45 How are the fire fronts developing in Karystos and Dervenakia, Achaia
The fire continues to burn in Corfu where, according to the fire department, there were flare-ups in the area of Palaia Perithia.
Strong ground forces and 4 aircraft and a helicopter are working to extinguish the fires, and they are expected to be reinforced with other aerial means.
There is a slight improvement in the picture of the fire in Dervenakia, Achaia, where several flare-ups occurred in the Vouraikos gorge during the night, which, despite the difficulties that exist due to the impassability of the area, were dealt with by the ground forces, who were on alert throughout the night. A helicopter is already operating from the air in Aigio and there is a provision for more if required by the conditions.
07:25 Another difficult day in Rhodes
In Rhodes during the night there was a battle with the fire in Gennadi and Vati, just as the situation was also difficult in Malona and Massari. Strong winds are blowing in the area, making the work of the ground forces particularly difficult, while creating new flare-ups.
Today is also expected to be a particularly difficult day for Rhodes, since according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, the island is in a state of alert 5.
With the first light of day, two aircraft and three helicopters started to drop water in Rhodes, but gradually during the day they are expected to increase.
07:05 Extreme fire danger for today – The dangerous areas
For the third day in a row, four areas are in a state of extreme danger of fire, putting the fire brigade on alert.
