Investigations continue into the identity of the perpetrator or perpetrators of the murder of Michalis Katsouris, who died during the attack by Croatian and Greek hooligans, on the evening of Monday, August 7, outside the AEK stadium, in Nea Philadelphia.
After the remand of all 105 defendants for the bloody incidents, the authorities are scrutinizing every video and photo at their disposal, to find the man who managed to stab the 29-year-old fatally. Both Vassilis Noulezas, the lawyer for three of the Croatian hooligans who were arrested, and Alexis Kougias, the lawyer for the Greek businessman who was arrested, claim that there is a video in which Michalis’s killer can be seen, which, however, police sources deny.
However, they say they are looking into another video, which shows a man with a bat hitting the 29-year-old, but it is not known if he is the same man who ended up stabbing him. Police are re-analyzing the footage they have of him while collecting more.
Lifting privacy and special software to measure biometric features
By Thursday, August 17, the results of the DNA tests and of the arsenal of the hooligans seized at the scene of the incidents are expected, which may shed more light on the murder of Michalis.
The DNA found on Michali’s body unfortunately does not seem to help so far.
For this reason the police will use a special software that measures the biometric characteristics as in the videos most of the perpetrators wearing full face masks.
So with this software they can measure their body biometrics and if they have a suspect it can help to identify him.
The sports violence security sub-directorate is continuing its investigations while it believes there is an equal chance that the killer is either Croatian or Greek.
At the same time, as reported by SKAI television, the police officers are in consultation with the prosecution authorities for the issuance of a prosecution order for the removal of telephone confidentiality.
When the “green light” is given, probably within the week, the police intelligence analysis department will proceed with scans of mobile phone antennas that have been connected to the places where the hooligans were found, such as at the Irini station and outside the “OPAP Arena ».
The aim of this difficult process is to identify the traces of the mobile phones of those involved in the incidents and thus lead the authorities to those who are still on the run.
This is a critical point in the investigation into the murder of Michalis, as it is reported that the perpetrator may not be among the 105 arrested, who, after all, deny everything
According to Alpha’s report, the police, after carefully examining the footage from the security cameras and the videos they have, have come to the conclusion that 30 more Greeks remain unaccounted for.
Lookouts
According to the Star, two Greeks who allegedly led the assault battalion have come under the microscope of the authorities.
In fact, the role of one is pivotal, his features are uncovered and he is unarmed, while he did not take part in the episodes, but he had the role of the chiller.
For the police, his testimony is very important because after the fight he had heard who said what. He might even have heard if a hooligan bragged about a hit. The police believe that it is very possible that he saw the moment when Michalis was stabbed or that he knows who the perpetrator is.
The second key person is the man with the green flare who is the one who allegedly gives the signal for the raid as he is with the Croat bloc. He is seen as lighting the green light to guide the rest and know where the line is between Croats and AEK fans.
This week the conclusion of the inquiry into police actions
This week is also expected the first picture of the results of the inquiry carried out in police after the operational fiasco, in order to assign responsibility for the inaction of the Police, with the information stating that at the end of the week there may be extraordinary crises.
In addition to the seven senior officers who have been indicted for this particular case, another 15 to 20 people are also included in the group, who bear important omissions, as they ignored the the mass of Croatian fans, which arrived in Athens and the result was that the 29-year-old lost his life unjustly.
