Hazardous particles suspended in the atmosphere from the fire have multiplied with scientists sounding the alarm.
“In the areas where there is a great burden – not only in the burned areas, but also much further away – it is important to protect people who belong to vulnerable groups, citizens who have asthma, chronic respiratory lung disease. It would be a good idea to wear an FFP2 mask to minimize the chance of exposure when outdoors. This applies to a large extent in the center of Athens and in almost all of the capital,” Dimosthenis Sarigiannis, professor of Environmental Engineering at Thessaloniki University, told MEGA channel.
