25 Masters of Wine from all over the world are expected to visit the Peloponnese from October 8 to 12.
According to the Hellenic Wine Association and the Association of Wine Producers of the Peloponnese, the purpose of the trip is for the leading professionals of the global wine market to immerse themselves in the history, contemporary trends and perspectives as well as the unique quality characteristics of the largest wine-growing region of our country.
The educational trip includes visits to selected Peloponnese vineyards and wineries, tastings of selected Peloponnesian wines, round table discussions and seminars, wine dinners, lectures as well as visits to archaeological sites and museums.
The value of Greek wine on international markets
“It is a special honor for us to host in our country 25 of the just 414 Masters of Wine worldwide. We invited these people to get to know in depth the distinct quality characteristics of one of the most important wine-producing regions of Greece that has been producing excellent wines uninterruptedly for millennia. This action takes place in the context of the implementation of the updated marketing plan implemented by the Hellenic Wine Association and aims to improve the perceived value of Greek wine in foreign markets,” said Dr. Yiannis Vogiatzis, President of the Hellenic Wine Association. He also emphasized that the action in question is done in collaboration with the member-partner of the Hellenic Wine Association, ENOAP, and carries out the new statutory function of S.E.O. which upgrades the role of Regional Organizations, thus better expressing our industry at national level.
“The Peloponnese has 32% of Greece’s vineyards and produces 31% of Greek wine. It is therefore of the utmost importance for us that the leading professionals of the world wine market get to know the wine gems of the Peloponnesian land, our rich wine history as well as the unparalleled hospitality of our members.” said Yannis Troupis, President of ENOAP.
It is noted that the UK-based Institute of Masters of Wine currently gathers 414 MW from 31 countries. MW is the most recognized title in the wine market and many MW are personalities of international prestige.
