The money bet by Greeks on gambling in the first 8 months of 2023, stood at 22.68 billion euros, according to the figures of the Gaming Supervision and Control Commission, showing an increase of 28.2% compared to the corresponding period last year (17.69 billion euros).
Of this amount, 16.9 billion euros were “played” online, 4.26 billion euros on OPAP games, 1.27 billion euros in Casinos, 210 million euros on lotteries and 23.9 million euros on horse racing.
Gross revenue, i.e. after deducting the profits returned by the companies to the players, increased by 12.6% to 1.661 billion euros, while public rights increased by 15.9% to 346.5 million euros and the tax of players by 39.8% to 210.99 million euros, of which 135.27 were related to online gambling and 72 million euros from OPAP games.
