Safety issues as well as green transition were discussed at the recent Board of Directors of the Hellenic Ports Association (E.LIM.E.) which this time took place in the city of Kavala at the offices of the “Kavala Port Authority SA”.
It is underlined that the work of the ELIME Board of Directors is being held for the first time in the city of Kavala, a fact which, according to the statements of its president, Mrs. Thanasis Liagou, demonstrates that the OL.K. S.A. is one of the main pillars of the domestic port industry. Besides, the operation of POLA SA goes beyond the trans-local dimension, as it plays a key geopolitical role in the access of a large part of the Balkan peninsula to the North Aegean.
The recent ELIME board meeting, held on Friday October 20, discussed – among other things – issues related to the safety of ports and their staff (safety & security), the staffing of Committees for individual fields (green transition and sustainable development, digital transition, cruise, coastal shipping , etc.), but also the further promotion of specific projects and tangible collaborations between members (including education and training issues).
Extroversion
On the part of the Piraeus port Authority-PPA SA, the Management reaffirmed its willingness to further promote the organization’s extroversion and to highlight its role, being an organic member of the Greek port industry, the CEO of PPA, Mr. Angelos Vlahos, pointed out in his statements.
E.LI.ME. constitutes the institutional expression of the interests of Greek Ports, with the statutory purpose of coordinating the activities of its members. Aiming at co-shaping port policy in the territory, the participation of Greek ports in regional development and the creation of robust and competitive service companies, ELIME acts as an advisor to the State, assisting it in various ways.
Its members are 13 Hellenic Port Organizations of Greece and 13 Port Funds (Public Law Legal Entities)that operate in the form of a Limited Company (S.A.) . Ultimately, its purpose is to deal with and promote all issues related to ports within the framework of national and European legislation
