Twelve Greek citizens were among a few hundred foreign nationals permitted to exit the Gaza Strip on Thursday, through the Rafah border crossing, into Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

The border crossing, on Gaza’s southern side, opened for the first time on Wednesday, more than three weeks after the unprecedented Hamas terrorist attacks against southern Israel on Oct. 7.

Early on Thursday, Egyptian border authorities released a list of 596 foreign nationals from 15 countries (including those with dual citizenship) allowed to cross into Egyptian territory. Twenty-four Greek nationals were on the list, with half finally entering Egypt since the early afternoon.

Several severely wounded Palestinians were also allowed to enter Egypt.
