
Industrial production in the country increased by 2% in September this year, however the production of manufacturing industries decreased by 0.4%.
According to Hellenic Statistical Authority-ELSTAT, the general index of industrial production showed an increase of 2% in September 2023 compared to the corresponding index of September 2022, against a decrease of 1.2% noted during the corresponding comparison in 2022 with 2021.
This development came from the following changes in the indicators of individual industry sectors:
1. From the increase:
*By 13% of the electricity supply index.
*By 1.1% of the water supply index.
2. From the reduction:
*By 0.4% of the manufacturing index. This decline was mainly contributed by the reductions in the wood industry and the manufacture of wood and cork products (27.4%), in the production of textiles (15.9%), in the manufacture of clothing (15.5%), in the manufacture other transport equipment (14.3%) and in the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products (12.9%).
*By 1.9% of the mines-quarries index.
At average levels in the 9 months, the general index showed an increase of 1% compared to the corresponding index of the period January-September 2022.
While, the seasonally adjusted general index showed a decrease of 2% in September 2023 compared to the corresponding index in August 2023.
