
The import price index in Greece’s industrial sector fell by 8.6% in November 2023 compared with the corresponding month last year, after rising by 15.7% over the November 2021 to November 2022 period, the country’s statistics authority (EL.STAT) announced on Friday.
EL.STAT attributed the development to “imported inflation” as well as an 11.6% decrease in the import price index from non-Eurozone countries, and finally, a 2.4% reduction in the Eurozone index.
Specifically, the index fell by 2.3% in November 2023 compared to October 2023.
In a related development, vehicle sales jumped 30.1% last month, totaling 15,581 vehicles (new and used), up from 11,976 in December 2022, EL.STAT.
New car sales reached 8,919, up 21.5%. All vehicle sales in 2023 reached 238,117 vehicles, up 16.1% from 2022. New car sales alone rose by 25.9% in 2023, or 145,667 in absolute terms.
Recorded motorcycle sales reached 2,543 last month, down 0.2% from December 2022. Throughout last year, motorcycle sales reached 69,425, up 15.9% compared to the previous year.
