Iranian-backed Houthi rebels assumed responsibility for the missile attack on the dry bulk vessel “Zografia” on Tuesday (16/01), according to the French news agency.
The Greek-owned ship was hit by a missile attack on Tuesday afternoon, sustaining damage from the strike but continued its course.
A few hours later, the Houthi rebels took responsibility for the attack, as reported by the French news agency. There were no reports of injuries to crew members, and no Greek nationals were on board the ship.
In total, there are 24 crew members on the ship, and their nationalities are not known. The “Zografia” commenced its journey from Vietnam with Israel as its destination.
The Houthi rebels launch attacks on ships in the region as a gesture of solidarity towards the Palestinians.
