![Motion of No Confidence Looms Over the ND Government After Tempi Audio Leak](https://www.ot.gr/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/vouli111.jpg)
In a significant move, PASOK, alongside the opposition, is poised to table a motion of no confidence against the government, led by Nikos Androulakis, president of PASOK- Movement for Change, responding to public outcry following revelations in “To Vima” newspaper about the Tempi train crash, according to which significant audio evidence was tampered with.
PASOK’s Central Committee is slated to formally introduce the motion on Tuesday, urging democratic parties to lend their support to the initiative.
Stefanos Kasselakis, president of the main opposition party SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, currently serving a truncated term in the Greek army at a camp in Thebes, addressed the public via video today. “These moments are so critical that I decided to address you directly through this video,” said Kasselakis.
SYRIZA’s leader took to social media to call on PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis to resign following the recent developments concerning the tragedy in Tempi and to lead the country to elections.
Alexis Haritsis, head of the New Left’s Central Committee, echoed the sentiment, declaring it’s time for the government to resign, citing its detrimental impact on democracy. The New Left pledges full backing for the no-confidence motion.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of Greece affirmed its tradition of supporting such motions against the ND government, should one be proposed.
