The government announced a new minimum wage increase earlier on Friday, up by 6.4% euros at 830 euros, set to take effect on April 1.
This marks the government’s fourth increase during its tenure, and comes exactly a year after after its previous increase, which set the salary rate to 780 euros.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke of the vote in Parliament on Thursday, commending the move, and commented on the 27% increase since 2019, when the minimum wage was 650 euros.
He also remarked that the decision had been thoroughly studied and will not jeopardize the economy’s resilience or competitiveness, will not hinder ongoing efforts to reduce unemployment and aims at supporting tourism workers as well.
Under three years of work: 830 euros
– Three-year period employment: 913 euros
– Two 3-year periods of work: 996 euros
– Three 3-year periods: 1,079 euros
– Married employees will see an additional 83 euros.
