
Prime Minister and President of New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis welcomed Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission and once again a candidate, upon her arrival at the Zappeion Megaro for the 15th conference of the New Democracy party, this Sunday morning.
Around noontime, Ursula von der Leyen addressed the New Democracy conference, emphasizing Greece’s pivotal role in NATO’s global democracy, collective security, and support for Ukraine, as well as its strong position within the European Union.
The President of the European Commission credited the people of Greece, the New Democracy party, and Kyriakos Mitsotakis for Greece’s recent remarkable recovery.
Additionally, she commended Greece’s economic leadership under Mitsotakis’ governance, stating “And I want to commend you for that. It’s truly impressive. Not too long ago, Greece was facing chaos, but under your leadership, Greece has become a leader in the economy. Greece’s economy has surpassed the European average.”
