Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said his government was continuing its fight against inflation during a visit to a vegetable market in the suburb of Rentis in Piraeus on Monday.
The PM remarked that these ongoing efforts through constant inspections of market prices were significant as they aimed to offer Greek consumers quality products at reasonable prices.
“We are fighting, with strict controls in the market and always in consultation with the entire supply chain, in our efforts to offer consumers products that will be at prices equivalent to or lower than last year’s,” he noted.
“The fight against high prices, we have said many times, is a continuous struggle. However, for the first time, we have encouraging signs that persistent inflation in food prices seems to be beginning to be reversed, and as I said, we now have price drops, which ultimately is the goal in order to relieve the average household.”
