Lampros Bisalas, CEO of Greek Sunlight, stood shoulder to shoulder with industry giants like Brad Smith of Microsoft, Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan, and David Solomon of Goldman Sachs at the prestigious annual “Choose France Summit”. They were part of an exclusive group of global leaders invited by French President Emmanuel Macron to the high-profile event.
This year’s summit, hosted by the French presidency, saw the participation of approximately 180 business executives and investment funds, all aimed at securing 15 billion euros in investments for France.
At the heart of the “Choose France Summit” was the discussion surrounding the production of lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries, crucial for the green transition and storage of renewable energy.
unlight Group, a Greek multinational specializing in battery production, was the sole Greek company invited, indicating the significance of this sector in future business endeavors.
During the event, the Greek CEO engaged in discussions with French officials, fostering partnerships and exploring investment opportunities. He also reportedly participated in a closed-door session with president Macron, where the focus centered on advancing the green transition through battery technology investments.
Bisalas seized the opportunity to learn about France’s investment climate while sharing Sunlight’s renewable energy storage plans, including the development of a gigafactory for lithium elements.
In December of 2023, Bisalas revealed Sunlight’s acceptance of a 700 million euros incentive from France to establish a gigafactory investment. This marks a major step in their plan to invest 1.5 to 2 billion euros in constructing a battery plant in Western Macedonia, Greece.
