Greek tourism is experiencing a significant surge, as evidenced by data from the country’s airports. According to the Civil Aviation Authority, passenger traffic in the first half of 2024 has increased by 11.4% compared to last year.

Specifically, the total number of passengers from Jan. to June 2024 reached 30,594,981, compared to 27,463,127 during the same period the previous year.

The number of aircraft arrivals and departures for both domestic and international flights across all 39 airports in the country, primarily under the Civil Aviation Authority’s control, saw a 7.8% increase in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

In particular, 242,170 flights were conducted in the first half of 2024, up from 224,712 flights in the first half of 2023.

Passenger traffic at the 24 airports managed by the Civil Aviation Authority showed a 6.3% increase according to preliminary statistics for the first half of 2024.

Specifically, the total number of passengers (arrivals and departures for both international and domestic flights) reached 4,032,909 from Jan. to June this year, compared to 3,792,575 during the same period in 2023.

The airports welcoming the most tourists this month are Athens International Airport, followed by Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, Thessaloniki, Kos, Chania, Zakynthos, Santorini, and Mykonos.

In July, the total number of scheduled seats reaches 5.1 million, a 7.8% increase compared to last year, according to data from the Airdata tracker.
