Images of Greece will be traveling the world via Netflix following an agreement inked this month between the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and video on-demand streaming service Netflix.
The memorandum of cooperation signed by former GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis and Netflix Public Policy Vice President Madeleine de Cock Buning outlines the terms of the partnership.
Under the MoU, Netflix will be promoting Greece’s landscapes and culture worldwide by leveraging the global popularity of its content and producing a video to be used by the GNTO for promotional actions. Greece’s tourism board will also be able to use Netflix material for new promotional projects.
The two sides also discussed future collaborations aimed at showcasing Greece as a leading tourism and filming destination.
“Through this collaboration, we aspire to establish Greece as an ideal location for audiovisual productions. Leveraging Netflix’s global reach, this partnership seeks to attract tourists and filmmakers, making Greece a magnet for travel and film production,” said Fragakis.
“Our partnership with the GNTO is a milestone for Netflix as it enables us to showcase the unparalleled beauty of Greece to millions of viewers, bringing them closer to its history, culture and landscapes, as reflected in our productions,” said De Cock Buning.
Fragakis has temporarily been replaced by GNTO Vice President Konstantinos Zikos.
