Increasing demand for short-term tourist rentals boosted the number of Airbnb listings in the first half of the year, according to the latest data released SETE Intelligence, the Greek Tourism Confederation’s (SETE) research body.

More specifically, the number of beds in June this year exceeded the H1 2023 figure by 85,000.

A month later, the number of available Airbnb beds in Greece came to around 1 million up by 81 thousand beds compared to July 2023.

According to INSETE analysts, this performance indicates a steady growth rate for short-term rentals throughout H1 peaking in July.

Strong Airbnb demand drove occupancy levels in Jan. which reached 12%, 23% in April, 30% in May, 40% in June, and 52% in July.

Compared to the same period in 2023, average length of stay, according to the same data, in the Jan.-July period increased only in Jan. and Feb.to 3.5 overnights up by 6.8% and 3.7 nights up by 32.6%, respectively. Length of stay declined in the remaining months.

Earlier this month, a report found that Greece was among the EU countries that saw a drop in average daily rates (ADR) in July, down by 9.8%.
