
Security forces at the airport of Heraklion, Crete, were alerted and responded to an explosion on board an aircraft scheduled to depart for the UK on Tuesday.
According to reports, the blast occurred before the airplane was scheduled to take off for Britain.
Citing sources, local online news site creta24.gr reported that the explosion was likely caused by an electronic cigarette and a power bank in a handbag left by a passenger in her seat.
The blast was reportedly powerful. Greek police arrived at the scene and are investigating the incident.
The flight was delayed, while no injuries were reported among the 236 passengers after the blast on the aircraft.
The aircraft is scheduled to depart later on Tuesday, while the airport operation has not been disrupted.
