An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) was recorded at 9:00 on Monday some five kilometers south of Thiva, a city in the Viotia (Boeotia) prefecture, in Central Greece.
The tremor was also felt in the greater Athens area.
The Athens Observatory’s Geodynamic Institute (GEIN) said the quake measured 4.4 on the Richter scale, while its depth was 19 kilometers.
Another earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale was recorded in Sitia, a town in Crete earlier this morning. Specifically, according to GEIN, the quake’s epicenter was 27 kilometers south, southeast of the coastal village of Zakros in eastern Crete, while its depth was 10 kilometers.
