Retail sales in Greece recorded a 0.8% increase in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, with total turnover in the retail sector reaching €18.84 billion, up from €18.68 billion in Q3 2023, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
Retail businesses in the food and fuel sectors posted a turnover of €6.82 billion in Q3 2024, a 1.2% increase compared to €6.73 billion in Q3 2023 and a 3.8% rise from €6.57 billion in Q2 2024.

Sectors experiencing the most significant gains were:
- Sale, maintenance, and repair of motorcycles and parts: +18.8%.
- Retail sale of music and video recordings in specialized stores: +15.7%.
Meanwhile, the sectors experiencing the most significant declines were:
- Retail sale of footwear and leather goods in specialized stores: -8.9%.
- Retail sale of electrical household appliances in specialized stores: -8.6%.
The total turnover for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the retail sector reached €11.15 billion in Q3 2024, a slight decrease of 0.1% from €11.17 billion in Q3 2023. For SMEs with double-entry bookkeeping, turnover in September 2024 increased by 3.7%, amounting to €1.30 billion, compared to €1.26 billion in September 2023.
