
Nine of ten Greeks paid their annual road tax fees before the expiration date of December 31st, 2024, a percentage similar to the previous year when 90% paid on time. However, last year’s deadline had been extended until March 4.
Out of a total of 6.7 million vehicles, road tax payments were made on time for 5.9 million, representing 88%, according to the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).
Late Payment Penalties for Road Tax
It is worth noting that the penalty for late payment is as follows:
- 25% of the road tax amount if payment is made by January 31, 2025.
- 50% of the road tax amount if payment is made within February 2025.
- 100% of the road tax amount in cases of: Payment from March 1, 2025, onwards, Partial payment or non-payment of the 2025 road tax.
