Demand for short-term rental accommodations, particularly Airbnb, is set to break records in Greece in 2025, according to an article at OT.gr.
The Outlook
Projections indicate a strong start to the year, with January seeing a 16% increase in demand and February following at 9%.
The figures are based on recent data from INSETE- a non-profit organization founded in early 2013, on the initiative of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), which tracks tourism-related trends.
While March shows a marginal rise of 0.2%, April is expected to see a 38% surge, attributed to the Easter holiday shift, according to the article by OT.gr.
As Greece heads into the 2025 tourist season, pre-bookings are already showing double-digit growth for Airbnb, with increases ranging from 10% to 15%, depending on the visitor’s country of origin.
Growth Across Europe
The short-term rental market across Europe continues to grow. Greece ranks sixth among 20 European countries, posting an increase in demand of 20.1% compared to 2023. Poland leads with a 29.9% rise, followed by Norway, Hungary, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
In Greece, revenue per available rental (RevPAR) increased modestly by 5%. Notably, the total number of short-term rental properties rose significantly. In November 2024, 205,000 accommodations were recorded, a 20,000-unit increase from November 2023. This translates to an additional 90,000 beds available, reflecting the growing capacity in the Greek market.
