An international AI Summit focusing on the development and management of artificial intelligence, which is gradually spreading across all areas of human activity, will be taking place in Paris from Thursday, February 6 to Tuesday, February 11. French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will co-chair the conference with the participation of political, scientific and investment stakeholders from around the world.

Sources from French diplomacy have announced that attendees will include US Vice President J.D. Vance, Chinese Vice President Ding Xuexiang, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and a large number of heads of state and government from the EU and the rest of the world, along with a large number of international organizations.

Specifically, from today, Thursday, until Sunday, discussion sessions will be held with the participation of over 1,000 people, focusing on issues such as the role of artificial intelligence in global and national governance and its economic, environmental and cultural impacts.

Furthermore, the protection of intellectual property rights, as well as its applications in sectors such as health, education, defense, agriculture, climate change mitigation and natural disaster response will also be addressed.

Circles close to the presidency of the French Republic, emphasize that the issue of developing artificial intelligence should not evolve into a battleground between the US and China highlighting the “awakening of Europe” regarding AI.

The creation of the appropriate conditions (economic, bureaucratic, and technological) for the development of European companies with global reach is put forward, as well as the addressing of the growing phenomenon of the brain drain from Europe toward the United States.

It is also noted the summit will further focus on ensuring as much freedom of access to artificial intelligence as possible, and determining how it will serve societies, not the other way around.

Finally, the French side emphasizes that its goal is for the representatives of the countries present in Paris during the conference to start engaging in dialogue, express support for the global governance of artificial intelligence through a general (non-binding) statement, and also take on some commitments for a sustainable and environmentally friendly AI.
