
Passenger traffic across Greece’s airports recorded a 6.1% increase in the first two months of 2025, according to a report by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA).
Between January and February 2025, a total of 5,322,218 passengers traveled through Greek airports, up from 5,018,004 during the same period in 2024.
Aircraft movements, including domestic and international arrivals and departures across the country’s 39 airports under HCAA’s air traffic control, also rose by 3.2% year-on-year. A total of 46,900 flights were recorded in the first two months of 2025, compared to 45,464 in the same period of 2024.
Notably, passenger traffic at 24 HCAA-managed airports—including those in Heraklion, Kalamata, Alexandroupoli, Limnos, Astypalaia, Ioannina, and Karpathos—surged by 14.3% compared to early 2024.
Specifically, total passenger arrivals and departures at these airports reached 426,755 in January and February 2025, up from 373,518 in the same months of 2024.
Heraklion International Airport in Crete experienced an impressive 30% rise in passenger numbers in February 2025, serving 125,133 travelers compared to 96,267 the previous year.
Additionally, the highest percentage increases in passenger traffic among HCAA-managed airports were recorded in Chios (+12.2%) and Kasos (+6.5%) in February 2025.
